When I was 14 my mum was talking over the garden fence to a neighbour about a new singer who was only 14, and at school, and she would be on TV that evening on the Alma Cogan Show.
We all watched the show, and from the moment Helen appeared I was hooked.
I subsequently joined Brian Field's Fan Club, then although I bought all the records over the years I didn't rejoin a Fan Club until I read about the one that Harry Morrison was running.
A couple of years after that, it folded, and I met up with Matt Hamilton, a co-fan whom I met via advertising for HS memorabilia. We ended up running it together, and then me on my own for the next eight years. The rest is history.
