AUGUST ISSUE OF RECORD COLLECTOR

Helen is mentioned in an interesting article in the August issue of Record Collector.

The article entitled 'Pre-Fab Britain', is a chronological list of 100 UK records on the road to The Beatles' first single.

SPECIAL 'YOURS' MAGAZINE SPRING NOSTALGIA ISSUE

Helen is featured in the 'Star Memories' section, remembering her childhood, with her brother Ronnie.
He started his own skiffle band, which soon became a trad jazz band, and would let her sing with them
-songs like 'Sunny side of the street', and 'Birth of the blues'.

17TH APRIL

THE NEW PAUL O'GRADY SHOW

Heard on the show recently- (Channel 4). In his competition part of the show he played "Walkin Back", and wanted to know whom the artist was. The contestant - and the audience all knew the answer, and the contestant won the money. Afterwards, Paul spoke to Cilla and they commented that Helen had been very young, and a very good artist.

28TH MARCH

eBAY AUCTION - SIGNED GUITAR IN AID OF TOMMY BRUCE

Tommy Bruce (singer of 'Ain't misbehavin', amongst many others) has been suffering from cancer, and on The 15th January, a charity event was held at The Wyllotts Centre, Potters Bar in his honour, during which a guitar was signed by many 60's stars:

Helen.

The Vernon Girls -'You know what I mean', 'Funny all over', they were backing vocalists for many stars through the 60's.

Barry Mason - Writer of many hits for various singers such as Tom Jones, and The Fortunes.

John Leyton - 'Johnny, remember me'. He also starred in The Great Escape.

Craig Douglas - 'Only 16', '100 pounds of clay'.

Jess Conrad - ' Mystery Girl', and 'Twist my Wrist'.

Clem Cattini - Leader of The Tornados, who had a massive hit with 'Telstar', 'Globetrotter'.

Mike Berry -'Tribute to Buddy Holly', 'Don't you think it's time'

Dave Lodge - Tommy Bruce's Manager

FINAL FRIENDS' CLUB GET TOGETHER

Following Gay's decision to discontinue the Friends Club, a last get together was arranged for Saturday 25th February, at The Ramada Hotel, Ealing..
